Sending Get Well Wishes

Flourishes is blessed to have a great Design Team.  when one designer is down, the entire team flocks to see how they could help and lend support. Last week just as our our new stamps were released…everyone was stressed over many blog and server issues…but none more then Dee Jackson, Stampingcuz-I-luv2.  Dee spent two days in the hospital but we are happy to report she is now at home.  We hope that she is taking things slowly – hope and pray that her good health will return.

With all that being said, you know I just had to make a special get well card.  Sometimes I feel like the shoemaker’s wife –surrounded by many cards but not one that just “fits”. I hope this card fits, a special  card for a special stamper.

Here is the card I made for Dee.

This is a card I really MADE.. On Splitcoaststampers (SCS)  there was a challenge to make your own Designer Paper.  We really did this in years past before there was a great selection for stampers to choose from.  I got my inspiration from the calendar in the bags we received at the Southeastern Flower Show held in Atlanta earlier this year. Each and every month is an inspiration.

To create the paper I first stamped with Flourishes Harlequin background stamp a couple of times in SU Sky Blue on Sky Blue, then using my brand new Ranger Inkessential Opaque white and a straight edge I drew a line thru the middle of each of the lines forming the diamonds.  Then I added a dot of white at each point of intersection.  To add the leaves I used my Certainly Celery marker and made a slight mark with the very tip of the marker….I did practice a few times until I got the sizing down.  For the complimentary piece I used a piece of the same paper stamped with the Harlequin but this time I did a series of 5 tiny leaves on each side of the line using the method above.  The tiny black lace is very old paper lace that I have had for years.  I cut it into two strips and glued it down to a piece of tiny twill from my Mother’s Wonder Closet.  The topiary image is from the newly released Siberian Iris set.  I just love this little image.  I colored directly to the image and very lightly misted it before stamping on to water color paper.  Layers of black set off each of the layers and the the gold brushed metallic card stock finishes off the card and the smaller image.  The sentiment is from our Many Sentiments set and is just the right size for this card.

I have really been long winded today in describing this card, which was a joy to make.  I hope Dee will enjoy it as well.

Thanks for stopping by for my ramblings from the Atelier today.

Ciao,

Wedding Essential

This week Flourishes webstore released three new sets that I had mentioned earlier this week.  I want to focus on the most essential element of a wedding…..The Bride !

You can’t have a wedding without a bride and mine today is ready for us to view…so let us throw open the chapel door, have the organ play the traditional Wedding March…Here Comes the Bride.  Turn your head and see the mother of the bride beam with love and pride…..

Here She is: Dum dum tadum, Dum dum tadum……

This bride is ready for her summer wedding…she is sparkly and dressed in dotted swiss…I paper pieced her skirt..vellum that had been Cuttlebugged..tapped gently with Versamark, and dusted with Pearl Ex. The hem of her skirt was dotted with liquid applique…treated with Pearl Ex and Stardust pens for a beaded look. Notice the lace peeking out from under her shirt..a small strip of lace from Hobby Hobby was attached with mini glue dots…Her skirt actually “stands out” from her slightly and again glue dots worked like magic…The bride was stamped with SU Going Gray on Ice Silver metallic paper and colored with SU Blush Blossom…her flowers were high lighted with Copics and then white liquid applique. I added a necklace and pearl earings a la liquid applique. Her veil was detailed with  the new Ranger Inkssentials White Opaque pen and everything was treated to a generous touch of  Stardust pens from Flourishes, llc. The card stockand another sheet of vellum were all treated to the CB…dabbed with Vermark, and dusted with Pearl Ex..the entire card has a pearlized look that is OH SO Pretty!…tiny pearls add the final touch to the corners of each layer.

I hope she gave you an AH moment!  The girls in the Wedding Party set are like dressing paper dolls when we were younger…I still love it as much.

Guest Designer and New Releases
There is so much happening this week at Flourishes!! First, let me welcome Sharon Harnist as Guest Designer for Flourishes for April and May. Sharon’s work is just drop dead gorgeous and we are so happy to have her talents bring such life to the Flourishes Stamp line!

Here is a little bit about Sharon..
After being an avid scrapbooker for about 8 years, Sharon was first introduced to rubber stamping in February 2004 where she found her papercrafting niche.  Shortly after, she became a demonstrator and instructor of rubber stamping, cardmaking & scrapbooking in May of 2004.   Coloring stamped images is her favorite form of rubberstamping.   She’s been published in several magazines, most notably in Take 10, Rubber Stamper and PaperCrafts.  Sharon has been married for 14 years. She and her husband reside in their native Texas with their two young daughters. Sharon served on the Splitcoaststampers.com Design Team from January to November 2006. Currently she designs for Spellbinders Paper Arts (who makes our beloved Nestabilities!) and Lockhart Stamp Company. You can follow her paper crafting endeavors at http://www.paperfections.typepad.com/, where she provides informative tutorials on all types of paper crafts. Welcome, Sharon!

These are cards made by our designers

Next – it’s release day here at Flourishes and we have three great ones!
First is this drop dead gorgeous Siberian Iris set, done exclusively for us by Marcy Hawley.  Marcy designed our web site as well as some other sets and we were simply blown away when we saw this set!  It contains 11 stamps, featuring the Siberian Iris image.  The set also contains a pretty topiary, a few flourishy elements and several sentiments. The Iris card is created by designer Sharon Johnson.
The other two sets are Wedding Party and Wedding Essentials. These sets work well together or separately. Wedding Party contains more artwork from Sophie, who recently did the artwork for our Menswear set. Wedding Essentials will work well for invitation, showers, cards and scrapbook pages. The “We Are Engaged” card is designed by Dee Jackson.
The bridesmaid card is by designer Lisa Somerville.
You can see the complete sets at the Flourishes Store.

Finally, we are halfway through this weeks contest over at our SCS Forum. Just upload a card made with a Flourishes stamp and post a link on the forum thread here and you will be entered into the contest for a chance to win the Flourishes stamp set of your choice!  We are also celebrating the one year anniversary of the SCS Weekly Inkling. Flourishes is one of the sponsors of this celebration and if you are a subscriber you may be a winner as well!

Yes, I have been missing in action for a little while.  I have been working very hard on the sets for release Wednesday by Flourishes, llc.  We are releasing three new sets and one set released on April Fools Day…a bit of a joke there.

So what are the new sets:  Siberian Iris –a original set of images by Marcy Hawley for Flourishes.  They are beautiful, featuring wording for Mother’s Day and the name of the flowers as well.

Wedding Party— an very cute bridal set, including bride & groom, a row of brides maids, lone bride and lone bridesmaid.  These were illustrated by a SCSer, Sophie La Fontaine.  This set works wonderfully with its companion set, Wedding Essentials.

Wedding Essentials- in Flourishes fashion beautiful scripted words, Save The Date, We’re Engaged, Mr & Mrs, and beautiful wedding bands and of course a flourish!

Head on over to the Flourishes webstore by clicking Here. Great new ribbons there too!  There you can see the other new set Menswear that got out thru a little April Fools Joke.

I think my Mom will like it….it will be a surprise if she isn’t reading this too!

I used my Prismacolor pencils and simply blended them with a colorless blender pencil.  The background is lightly colored with sky blue and the edges were sponged with Color Box-Cat eye in Pink.

Papers: SU: River Rock (card base), Old Olive, Pixie Pink, White; Basic Grey-from Lily Kate

Ink: Ranger-Pitch Black

Ribbons: new Apple Green scalloped edge from Flourishes, stripe from Michaels

Ciao and thanks for stopping in the Atelier
