Today is filled with Flourishes….Festive Flourishes Fridays..Flourishes Bloggers take their turn to shine and today it is all about monochromatic dressed up or dressed down.  It is also day three in our fabulous release week for December.  I am featuring the Lace & Trims set today.  This set has a very special place in my heart.  Marcella and I used old lace and my great, great grandmother’s handkerchief from her wedding day for this set.  Sometime later I will share more on my love of old lace.

For my part of the Festive Flourishes Fridays Bloggers I used the central image in the set.  A large image that is 5 1/2 inches long and fairly wide as well.  It was stamped onto vellum with Versamark then heat embossed with white detail powder.  To give it some extra depth I used my silver Spica-Copic Metallic pen to outline and define areas and then smudge it so as to not leave a line.  Kaiser flat back pearls in Champagne were added to the center of each of the flowers in the lace.  I used my Japanese Paper drill to punch holes down the center of the lace pattern then wove the small ribbon thru it, placing another but smaller pearl.  To add a touch of glimmer I used the tiniest Kaiser rhinestones.  Three slightly off white paper flowers, each studded with a tiny rhinestone a few green leaves, ribbon bow,  streamers with a Love sentiment from the set made my lace panel ready to apply to my card.  The card base is  a 5 /12″ square done with Ice White Metallic from Flourishes.  I embossed a panel of the same paper with my cuttlebug folder, the cut it in half and adhere to the top and bottom of my card base.  Then I attached the vellum lace panel….Viola

Day Two of Release-Thinking of You

    thinking-of-you-collection2-w-pearlsa1

Today I am focusing on the second set in our release days.  This set is called  Thinking of You  and is the newest addition to our Simply Sophisticated Series .  We all need that special card that we can make, that is appropriate for the situation, easy, and just Simply Sophisticated !!  I love to make collections of cards that have a unified look as a set, but individually beautiful on their own.  This set is an absolute must have in a stampers collection; it is so easily adaptable, allowing for easy one color application as I have done here.  This set has endless applications and can easily be incorporated with other set images.

    *the ink color,

*scoring to add the effect of another layer,

    * the use of pearls (liquid and flat back) and

     *chocolate brown ribbon.

I kept the card colors soft.

Here is the card done in green, You are in Our Thoughts & Prayers, the graceful elegance of the card and sentiment says it all.   I scored with my Scor Pal making two vertical lines down the front of the card.  The images are the right and left images of a floral spray that I staggered. Then I added a row of tiny white liquid pearls to accentuate the scoring, and more liquid pearls to the flowers.  This card is probably my favorite of the collection!

This Pink Happy Birthday  card  uses the largest floral image from the set.  For this card I used a sentiment from our Flourished Words set.  A rectangle Nestabilities frames the image.  For this card the sentiment the delicate script of Flourishes Words was the perfect choice. Three flat backKaiser pearls add the final touch.

The blue card, With Our Love is easily done with the floral frame and small basket of flowers.  The sentiment again is from our Flourished Words set.  Here the “Nestie” of choice to frame the image was the new large labels.  This time I placed four small liquid pearls.

The last card in the series is a Lavender,  Thinking of you Card.  An Oval “Nestie” outlined with tiny liquid pearls make the delicate and vintage look to this card.  The Oval floral frame and the sentiment inside give this card an especially feminine look.  The small brown bow embellished with  a flat backed Kaiser pearl are the exclamation points on this card.

    And as I always say…Viola!

    Bouquet of Roses

    i-love-roses-just-roses4a

I have been missing form the action of late.  My Mom (she’s 87 yrs old) was rushed via ambulance to the hospital from her doctor’s office on Monday before Thanksgiving.  Testing, admission more test showed that she had 3 completely blocked arteries from her heart and one very large (did I say it looked like an egg) blockage in the posterior of her heart.  Surgery at her age, with this amount of blockage and the fact that she is very tiny would make things all the more difficult.  She eventually had surgery and spent only one day in the Critical Care Unit and moved to the Progressive Cardiac Care unit for all of one day.  Very serious complications sent her back to Critical Care.  She has improved and today they moved her back to the Progressive Cardiac Care unit.  Now she is planning her escape!!!

With all that said you know I had to make her a card and so I used the absolutely stunning” I Love Roses” set Marcella has created for our release this month. These images are a joy to color.  These were done with only one image from the set.  I made multiple masks using my Eclipse tape, and then stamping repeatedly until I got the look I wanted.  The leaves are also images from the set…..again I used my mask over the rose.  I colored them using my SU reinkers and aqua painter from Flourishes.  A ribbon and sentiment from Many Sentiments and Viola!
