Swing Into Spring-Day Three

On our third day of Sneak Peeks….let me share with you,,,,,

another Marcella original for Flourishes, and it’s a background.  This lovely and versatile introduction will work with so many Flourishes images and it is actually a companion image of our recently released Thinking of You.

For my introduction piece I used the Vintage Wallpaper background, but for the romantic and nostalgic look I have been feeling this week I chose to use Sweet Violets again.

I just love this background image.  Today we so often just rely on the fast and easy for our cards and just use designer papers.  Sometimes this works to our advantage, but other times you and I want to be more in control of our card making.  That makes background stamps a Win-Win situation…I can decide on the exact colors instead of accepting what is in my paper hoard. Today I used a piece of American Crafts DP , a stripe, then added my image over it….Viola, I had just what I wanted !!!

I teamed up with the smallest violet image from Sweet Violets. This time I colored the flowers in pinks. Using the new daily standard a Nestability, gold Painty pen, a dash of ribbons and pearls, and the choice of papers was all I had left to do.

Viola! my card was done.

You should see what the FLLC  Senior Design Team did with this fabulous new background!  A lot of them did pull out their Thinking of You set to show you just what you can do with the whole collection!

Swing into Spring -Day Two

Today is the crux of this great release of our Swing into Spring…so here goes

We  have the right set in Swing Set.  Our newest artist Lauren Pope has created a wonderful set full of fun and versatility.  She has captured a fun memory we each have in our lives.  Each of us I am sure can remember fond time of a swing set, a swing hanging from an tree branch or even the swing on a porch.  We know the feel of the joy of pumping our legs in an effort to swing higher, or the times we pushed someone else, a friend or our small child on a swing.  I hope you will find just these kinds of memories as you go down the blog trail today and come Friday evening you will have a change to one of the first to purchase this neat set.

If you want a change to win this set just visit the Flourishes Newsletter by leaving today’s post and you could be our lucky winner.

Here is my card.  Your first look is at the card closed as I want to slowly reveal the rest of the card….enough taunting?????

OK…

swing-swing-upclose-closed-a

I have used the largest image in the set, stamping it several times with Hybrid Palette Burnt Umber and Chartreuse.  I then colored the images using my Copics scribbling with two shades of green and then using Marianne Walker’s dirty rag technique to give my trees a very realistic look.  Then two shades of brown and the branches were colored in.  I then used my Copic Air brush system and colored the area around the trees and branches.  As you will see I repeated this several times.

Here is why I had to repeat it several times…….swing-set-release-day-get-well-open

This is a Z Fold card.  Open you can see the branches of the tree to the top and our lovely lady is getting back into the swing of things.  This was a fun card to make.

Take another look from the front of the closed card.swing-set-trees-very-close

From this angle you can see the front of the card and the back of the  center fold and the back of the card.  The inside of the card was created on one piece of white cardstock, being carefully laid out.  The front of the center fold was stamped on a separate piece of cardstock then colored.  All were cut and glued to the front and back of the center fold with Zip glue.

I have talked way to long…so now move on the to the blog trail and check out all of todays wonderful creations of the Senior DT.

Swing into Swing-Sweet Violets!

I just love this time of the month.  It is the time when Flourishes release it’s newest sets.  This month we have

I just love this new delicate stamp set, illustrated by our resident artist Marcella Hawley.

I have lots of wonderful sweet violets growing wild in our yard.  I don’t consider them intruders and treasure the beautiful little plants.  The blooms have a nice array of white, pink and lavender.  So it is no doubt that this one is going to be one of those romantic images I just love.

Here is my card to share with you today as my part of the sneaks peeks.

 sweet-violets-release-day-a1

I used the largest image in the stamp stet for this card.  The designer paper is from the Memory Box, Poppyfinch.  The lavish silk ribbon is one the newest additions to the Flourishes webstore.  The center on the bow is a brooch looking button I got at JoAnn’s.  The lacey edge was done with the MS Punch and accented with Kaiser flat back pearls also in the FLLC store.

Here is a look at the set which will be available at our Release Party on the SCS forum Friday night at 9:00 EST.sweet-violetsfinal-jmc-copy1

Sophie’s Introduces Her Friends

Today is a very special day for Sophie, our young intern at Flourishes.  She convinced me to let her help create a stamp set.  Lauren Pope was there one day when we were talking about and chuckled.  Just then her two room mates, Gigi & Chloe, stopped in at Flourishes.  Later Lauren sent me these darling sketches of the girls.  Needless to say Sophie squealed when she saw them.  This was all I heard, till I gave in.  So today is her big day.  Be sure to visit the Flourishes Newsletter and  see here into post of the stamp set and her friends.

Here is a look at the entire set.  Cute wouldn’t you say?

Here is the card I create for there big day.  This is Gigi.  She is such a darling girl.  She is just my kind of a true Southern girl…all sweet and nice!

I altered the Gigi image slightly removing her shopping bags.  I think she is just a cute this way and I am already envisioning other things to do with this sweet set of images.

Here is an up close look at her.gigi-birthday-upclosea

I worked with the girls when they came over to help Sophie with her big release project.  Now I don’t want to steal any of their thunder, so hop on over to the Flourishes Newsletter

The Flourishes Design Team is also helping Sophie to reveal her friends, so please visit their blogs as well.  Here are a blog links to all these great ladies:
