Berry Best Birthday Wishes

We are celebrating at Flourishes! Sometime it is hard for me to imagine that is already two years and other days it is just as hard to imagine that it has only been two years.

So much has changed.  For one ,my creative time is much less and I miss is so much.  We have one of the best, if not the “berry best” ,(sorry I could not help it!) Design Teams around, and in my humble opinion the Very Best!.  We are blessed with two very talented artist in Senior Design Artist, Marcella Hawley and up and coming Assistant Artist Lauren Pope.  Nancy, Sharon and I are blessed to have Julie Koerber as our Design Team Coordinator and so much more.

Two years ago this month, this one of a kind stamp boutique opened its doors to a whole new kind of creative expression. Now, we want you to help us celebrate! Today, the entire design team cooked up creations to honor Flourishes’ special day.

So here is my card for today.Berry Best Wishes 3.b

Summer Classics-Sea Side Life

Flourishes, llc are bringing you another Summer Classic today.  Again we have the wonderful artistry of Marcella Hawley. As Julie said perfectly ” I don’t think you need me to tell you — she is a master at bringing out the best in a stamp set!”  The name of this set is Sea Side Life.

Sea Side Life copy

Living on the water, sea life is important to me.  I love to walk along the beach.  One of of the treasures of these walks are the sea shell I collect. I love the smell of the salt air, the feel of the sand under feet, seeing the sea oats that sway in the breeze, the changing shape of the sand dunes.  Each of  these is a beauty is truly a gift of nature.  Needless to say these are treasures in my life.

So here is  a sneak at my card that is a part of the sneak peak for the set Sea Side Life

Sea Shells up close-A

These are the Sea Shell on my card.  I wanted you to see a close up of these because when you see the entire card you may not see all of the detail.  I had fun putting this together.  I used masking to create this sea shell collection.  Only two of the shells were done separately….the rest are all on flat piece of paper.  OK are you ready to see the entire card????

Sea Shells-seek & find5-best

Can you find the two shells that are not part of the card front?

Having lived for so many years on foreign soil made me relaize just how much I truly love and treasure it and what we stand for here.  I thank all those that have fought to give us the Declaration of Independence and to keep this country free.

I meant to post this last night and then today just was really busy as we have a young military family that we have know for years with us.  The house is very busy with small ones.  Neal is the father of these pretty little girls and we first met him(single back then) at church, and eventually his girl friend Natalie.  Their marriage felt like our own children were getting married.  We have been there for each of the births of their little girls, Madeline and Claire.  Neil is now in flight school training with the Air Force and we miss them.  Here is a start of a mini book that I made for them to remember today with us. This is going to be the cover.

Whether you live near the water as we do here in Pensacola or not the lure of the water is great.  Summer nights, sunsets, the sound of waves crashing on the shore – what could be more relaxing? Because these are the sights and sounds of life on the beach – what better way to challenge you all to a fun contest than to invite you to put a taste of of the ocean into one of your creationsBy the sea challenge7a

Here in Pensacola, beautiful sugar white beaches abound; so do grassy parks.  It’s the best of so many worlds…white caps on the gulf or just absolutely flat water, the lone sail boat or the hundreds of boats that dot the waterfront. 4th of Julyfireworks are  spectacular  done from a special boat in the bay giving all a water front viewers or those that actually view from a boat.  The Navy Blue Angles call Pensacola home and that gives us another awesome free treat so many times during the year, but 4th of July and their homecoming are hosted over the coast of Pensacola Beach.  I guess you get the point that we love the water –the bay or the gulf-here in Pensacola.

A By the Sea challenge is perfect for us that live here “where thousands live as millions wish they could” to quote a former Pensacola mayor.  And it is true!

There are two trees in my mother yard, each over 450 years old and said to be the very oldest in the area according to the Florida foresters.  The young children love those trees, who’s branches are larger that most trees…swings, climbing are perfect for the mix of these trees and many a good time will be remembered.  FLLC’s Swing Set is perfect was this challenge….so here is another look at my card for today.

I used Copics for this Challenge–lots of them

By the Sea Challenge Banner

Other items that I used for this fun card were:Copic Colorless Blender to push the colors away to create the sky;Light Blue Silk ribbon which I colored with the BG15 from the Water Collection –how fun is that…I got just the color I wanted;  three beautiful gold filigree flowers from The Finishes Touches Beautiful Brad Collection, Basic Grey and FLLC Classic White paper and Kaiser White Pearls….All available from Flourishes, llc.  So now it is YOUR turn to join the fun….and maybe win some prizes!

HOW TO PLAY: Try to incorporate the “feel” of the sea in one of your creations. It could be with a fun embellishment, a photo or even just a color scheme. Link your creation to this post or upload to Splitcoast using the keyword FLLCJULY. You have until Friday, July 10th at 5 PM Eastern to have your creation uploaded! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!WHAT YOU COULD WIN: All of our new releases that will be revealed starting next Wednesday, July 8th, right here on the Flourishes Newsletter.
To get ready for the big reveal and spark some ideas for our challenge, our Senior Design Team got their creative juices flowing! Here is a peek at a few of their “By The Sea” inspired creations!Christine Okken
