Hello Friends,

It is the second Wednesday in the month and that means Flourishes has new stamps to release.  Today we are kicking off February’s release with a beautiful set by Marcella Hawley called Calla Lillies  (beautiful and Marcella  in the same sentence seems redundant to me)These majestic flowers are a favorite of mine.  They grew with abundance in my Grandmother’s yard.  In Italy, near Verona, Calla Lillies just grew prolifically in the ditches along the roads.  One day we saw a little old lady carrying a huge bundle of fresh picked Calla Lillies back to her bicycle.  I have no idea how she intended to get them all home.  LOL  OK, OK,  I will just show you the set so you can have a gasp of delight.

This 4″ x 6″ set is bursting forth with greatness.  It is just perfect for so many occasions.  We have chosen to offer some sentiments for the harder times in life.   It was perfect for a card I made for a gentleman at our church when his mother passed away.  I choose to keep the colors somber, but this dignified set took on the perfect sentiment I wanted for this occasion.

A close up shot will give you some details.

The papers in this card are Flourishes Classic Ivory, black, and Little Black Dress ( Basic Grey) came together for the jaw-dropping style as stated on the Basic Grey cover sheet of the designer paper. I used  Spellbinder dies, S5-062, Lace Doily Motifs,  and S5- 062, Lace Doily Accents.  The image was stamped on Flourishes Classic Ivory then colored with FLLC Copic Collections Evergreen,Daffodil and Cool Neutrals the flowers were  then detailed with Inkssentials  Opaque White  pen.  Using the Cool Neutrals and the Opaque White Pen made the Callas really pop off the page.

Two ribbons grace the card, a beautiful May Arts ribbon Statin Pleats and Bouqutie Cuts Satin Plisse   topped with three rows of Kaiser string pearls in champagne.  A flat black  bow made with my Becca Peg Bow maker (soon to be here and available to you) is adorned with a Webster Pages cameo that I colored with my Memento Black ink pad and gently brushed with gold ink.
