Hello Stamper Friends,
Yesterday I posted to the Flourishes blog, about the new Ranger Products in the Flourishes store. In that post I showed you the bookmark below that I made to remember my friend’s mother. Today I will show you a few steps I did for this creation. A dear friend visiting me was watching as I worked. She said, “How are are you going to present that to your friend?” Oh my, I had not thought of that at all! I know that in Japan the presentation of a gift is as important as the gift itself. I had to put my thinking cap on and today I will share this creation as it evolved. It turned into a real labor of love for two very special ladies in my life.
Here is the bookmark that I made.
Here is how I started. Using the Flourishes Tailor-Made Custom Keyhole die. I cut one image out of Flourishes Classic White card stock. Then I stamped the images of flowers on to Eclipse masking tape. I repeated with multiples of each flower I considered using for this bookmark. I cut these images with my tiny scissors and then began to play, arranging them into order until I was happy. I then started with my center image on the bottom, removed the mask, stamped with Stazon Timber wood, then covered the image, I repeated this process both top and bottom. Then I removed the mask and began the joy of coloring. Using the Ranger Distress ink, the Cut n” Dry Nibs, and Inkssential Ink Refresher. The Ink Refresher makes the ink pad juicy and this allows the nibs to take the ink from the pad to my paper. The nibs, which I love, are stiff, small, and wonderful to reach tiny areas. The Inkssential Ink Refresher is not available in big box stores, it is available at Flourishes.
I used an 8 inch square paper doily for the outside of the envelope, cut a piece of light pink cardstock, scoring as I had done with the paper and adhered the two layers with Zip Dry Glue.
When I completed my coloring, I placed a layer again using the Classic White card stock, cut with the Spellbinder Floral Rectangles (due to arrive soon).
Having completed the outer layer I was ready to move to the inside of the presentation envelope. I securing this layer with Scor-Tape.
I made a belly band out of a light pink ribbon, using an image from the stamp set,” Love Sweet Love” I stamped with Memento Black Ink, then layered it onto a slightly larger square of the light pink card stock.
Here is the finished belly band:
which was colored with these Flourishes Copic Collections:
Details on my bookmark. The metal details are jewelery findings, I added to give the bookmark some weight. The small detail on the bottom is actually two pieces that are magnets. I really like the finished look.
Final assembly – just as my friend will receive this gift of love.
Viola! Thanks for stopping in today. Please leave a little note, I love reading your comments.
