Friday Focus

Hello Blog and Stamper Friends,

Today all of the Flourishes Senior Design Team will be sharing luscious card focused on a delightful sweet  Strawberries that are in high season everywhere around here.  I love this stamps set and every time I make a card with the set it pleased me.  Today I went for a dramatic look.  What do you think of it?

I kept it simple and dramatic, though I think inviting.  The image was stamped on Flourishes Classic White and colored with these FLLC Copic Collections

I cut away most of the white around the image, then colored the background with my Copic Mulitliner and Black Copic 100.  I then glued it down to black cardstock with Zip Dry Paper Glue.  I cut into the shape using  Spellbinder die Labels Twenty.  An embossed layer of White Classic cardstock using Houndstooth folder from Couture creations.  A tiny border of red cardstock and I was a happy lady.  I used a wired ribbon from my stash and love the look.  I know that seam binding is all the craze and ties nicely, but I love great ribbons!

I will be busy packing today.  I am flying to Brisbane, Australia,  to be a part of the Scrapbook and Papercraft show ! I am a guest of X-Press Graph-X Supplies.  This will be the formal opening of Flourishes to Australia.  This will make our images  widely available in Australia.  The Scrapbook and Papercraft show will be held in Brisbane June 9-11. Stop by…I’d love to meet you!   What fun!

Thanks for stopping in to visit today.  Leave a comment…I read each and every one.

Hello Blog Friends,

Today is the last day for our May release Sneak Peaks.  We have another great set designed and penned by Marcella  Hawley.  This time we are focusing on summer living.  Down here on the Florida’s Emerald Coast we  move out doors.  Neighbors have beautiful vignettes with rockers, ceiling fans slowly turning, even lamps to create the wonder feeling of out door comfort and living. At my house we eat all our meals out doors, why I even have special summer plates.  I added those this year.  My Mike, just loves living out doors.    Marcella has captured the very essence of that feeling with the From The Porch set.  I am sure you will fell the same way.  Here is a sneak peak at the set.

In my card I wanted to capture the feeling of living , or just visiting our lovely beaches.  So many people travel to Florida for short vacations, snow birds” winter” here, many others  own a condo/beach house and come often.  So many of them say this is where there heart is and we tell them that once you get these sure white sands under foot, it never leaves your heart.  So my card tries to capture that feeling.

My Supplies for this card:

Set: On the Porch, Windows to the World

Ink: Memento Black

Papers: Classic Ivory, My Minds Eye

Copic Colors:

Ribbons May Arts Sheer Satin Scalloped edge, around the rug I used String Loop Trim

Embossing Folders: Couture Creations, Courtship, which I rubbed with ink.  I reminds me of the waves a bit.

Accessories: Pop dots

Off  now I’ll send you to the Flourishes  Designers to see their creations.

HI Blog Friends,

The hour has struck and it is time for Flourishes Noon Challenge.  This one is dedicated “for the boys”.

I am glad you return today to see my card for the noon challenge.  I have a very special man that I needed a card for, you see our regular UPS Driver Ginger has a husband that  retired and fishes every day.  One day she told us that he had caught so many fish that she did not know what to do with all of it as they will not eat it frozen.  Well knowing us, you know that “volunterred” to take on any extra fist that he might have time to time.  She has come through with early morning deliveries that also come with and ice chest of fresh fish , just caught and cleaned ready for cooking.  My Gosh!,  were we stunned and a very pleasant way.  He has continued to keep us on is extra fish list and are please to have such a wonderful treat delivered to our door.  Needless to say this gentleman and dedicated fisherman deserved a special thank you card. This challenge was the perfect excuse to make another card “for the boys”

I choose to use the stamp set, Watch a Catch, it was a no brainier.  While he does not fly fish I truly thing he will get the message.  I used a mulit fold card in shades of blued.  The focal image was stamped in Memnto Inks and colored with Copic Collections from the FLLC store.  I stamped and colored in image twice so I could pop it up for dimension.  I wanted that fish to look like it just jump off the card.

I used a Brocade Blue card stock  from my stash to dress it up a bit I used the Authentique Loyal 6×6 paper pad.  Used Spellbinder dies Label one  in two sizes. fussy cut the image and really popped it up.  A couple of buttons from My Minds Eye Breeze Collection  and some twine from my stash were all the special effects that the card seemed to need.  I think he will be please with his card, don’t you.

Now it is your turn,  get busy and create  your own card for “Let Hear It For The Boys” challenge.

Hello Blog Friends,

It is already day two for Flourishes newest stamp sets for May, 2012.  I am happy and proud to share with you a new set for the Fathers in our lives.  This wonderful new set was penned by Lauren Pope. Yes,  it is another of her fabulous silhouette sets.  Lauren has a wonderful talent to make the art of silhouettes come alive.  She is able to capture the feeling and emotions that elude other artists.  Each one of her silhouette sets are always “wanta haves”   if not “must haves”  in our collections.  This set is no exception.   She has captured a Father’s love for his children in a captivating way–one that I think is unique to the world of stamping.  OK, OK,  I know you want to peek!

Here is my card using this great set.  My inspiration for this card is the fact that my nephew is a proud new father of a little girl.  This image was perfect for him.  I can only imagine the love and pride of a father with a new daughter.

Father’s Day Card Supplies:

*NUNN DESIGNS RIBBON SLIDES- 6- ANTIQUE COPPER  Yes,  there are still a few of these wonderful slides available in the store in silver, copper, and gold!

Hello Blog Friends,

Flourishes is ushering in three new beautiful sets this month.  Today we have a wonderful favorite that Marcella Hawley has penned. This beautiful set is filled with glorious detail.  So I will share with you a peek at Hydrangea.

Here is my creation.

This card was an experiment the entire way.  I made two cards just in case I messed up, I would not have to start from scratch.  To get a myrid of shades of blue I used my Copic Air compressor and so many shades of blue I cannot possibly post them here.  I applied ink to a piece of FLLC Classic White card stock and a piece of vellum,  spraying each color onto the two different layers of card stock.  Then I stamped my image onto the paper with Memento black ink.  I used my Copic blender to remove the color from the leaves, then colored them in using  a new Copic collection group, Pistachio.  It’s my new favorite green.  To brighten the card I applied dots to the flowers using a White Inkessential pen, to give them centers and definition.  The images from both the card stock and vellum were “fussy cut”.  I cut some additional flowers from the vellum and used small dimensional dots to give the image more depth.    I used a piece of bright blue cardstock that I cut using the Grand Calibur scallop circle, punched the entire piece with a Martha Stewart All Over punch, Stained Glass Pattern.  I edged the piece of white card stock with Spellbinder edgeabilities Classic Petal.  I used the Edge Only and Insert A dies.   A piece of ribbon bow and a jewelry finding into which I inserted a Clear stick pin that I colored with a blue Copic was the final touch.  I have to say this was a fun process and I am happy with the results.

Now you need to visit the Flourishes Senior Designers and see their wonderful creations.

May Release Challenge

Hello Blog Friends,

It is almost release time for Flourishes and that means we have a challenge.  Our Challenge for this challenge is Home Sweet Home.

We were challenged  to let our creavitiy shine by being inspired by something in our home.  We each took of picutre of a piece of inspiration.  For my inspiration I used this table top setting and it tablecloth that is in our living room:

So here is my card from that inspiration.

For My card I used Waterlilies, swatches of card stock in my stask.  I paper pieced the gold  fish from the same group of papers.  My images were stamped in Memento Black ink and colored with the following Flourishes Copic collections:

I used a strip of braided trim in Turquoise and a brand new item in the store, Prima Shabby Chic Treasures, that I colored using my Gold Metallic ink pad.

Check out what the the Senior Design Team has chosen for their inspiration and then their interpretation.

Now you get to play along as well.  Here is the code to use FLLCMAY12:

Let your creativity shine by being inspired by something in your home – it could be the color scheme of a room, a painting, vase or floral arrangement – the sky is the limit on this Home Sweet Home Challenge! Please take a picture and show the inspiration piece in your post. Entries must be in by May 11th at 5PM EST in order to be in the running for the entire May Release!

Thanks for joining today.  Leave me a note if you please, I love to read you comments.

From The Garden

Hello Blog Friends,

My blog is posting late…duh, I forgot to schedule the time to publish.  Better late than never, I guess.

I been busy creating in the studio, working on my 28 birthdays cards I posted on the Flourishes Blog yesterday.  Today the entire design team is focusing on the set From the Garden.  Spring is in full force here in Pensacola and everything is taking shape.  I am undertaking some large projects to spruce up the gardens this year and will share those as they progress.

Today I am visiting a friend, she loves to garden but is dismayed that her roses don’t seem to be doing as well as they have in the past.  We’re going to put our heads together and look for some of  the causes.  Since the Friday post today was featuring the From The Garden set I will bring her this card.

I love how perky this card is, the colors and paper work well  together, and I  love the combination of the hot pinks and turquoise.  My paper is from the 1,2,3 Create Kit Howdy Doody at Flourishes.  The papers in that kit are wonderful to work with, lots of looks from weathered wood to tiny prints and stripes.  I used the Teal Braid trim layered over a strip of Cotton Linen Turquoise ribbon.  I made the rosette using the same ribbon by cutting a 3/4″ circle of the Turquoise Linen ribbon and using my glue gun, pleating the ribbon in two layers and used a small brad from the Vintage blue-teal collection.  They are a perfect color match and I like the look it created for the card.

I used my new Letraset Aqua Markers after I had stamped the image on watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx black dry pigment ink.  This ink dries quickly and does not smear with the water markers.  Using the Letraset blender made the coloring easy.  I blended several colors together to get more color tones.  The markers I used are the Blender, Teal,Sangria, celery, straw yellow, Frost Blue, and Mocha.

Please visit the other Designers to see their lovely creations.

I also took a few pictures from my garden to share with you.

These pretty urns are in the back yard along a walk way.  They are so pretty to see from the living room.  This next one is on our front walk way.  It is a bir urn and doing beautifully.  I’ll probably have to keep an eye on it as may out grow the container by summer.

Thanks for stopping in today.  Leave a love note if you have the time,  I just love reading your comments.

Free For All Friday

Hello Blog Friends

I really had fun with the new releases from Flourishes and with three nieces having babies in sixty days of each other. You can bet I will put these to good use.  Oh, I forgot Mother’s Day too.  These will be my go to stash for a while.

Sunday we had a baby shower for Crystal.  She is having a boy and I had a good time with my girly book for Madelyn  Rose, but I needed to shift gears.  David, the soon to be father, wanted nothing frilly for his baby boy so I made this card.

I just love this image from our new  Hello Baby set.  I kept this simple using lots of layers and a neat two tone woven  ribbon from the Boutique cuts, linen ribbons, and braids from France.  I used Flourishes White classic cardstock and stamped the image with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.  I framed it by cutting with Spellbinders Labels Two and did a tight cut outside the same label die.  This gives a nice edge without moving up a size.  I colored using these Flourishes Copic Collections and lightly used my Ranger foam coloring pads with Antique linen.

The designer paper is from My Mind’s Eye Fiddlesticks paper.  The paper paired with light brown cardstock did the trick for me.  I added two embelishments to the top right corner, one from Bead Landing ( Michael’s) and one from my Basic Grey stash.  This was easy-peasy and the dad thought it was cool!

For my second card today, I needed yet another Baby Boy card.  For this one I used the 1,2,3 Create Kit of the Month, Howdy Doody.  I just love the colors in this kit.  The soft blue and peach are just so sweet together.  All of the papers used in this card came from the kit, except the soft blue card stock.

The onsie was stamped on a sheet from the kit then “fussy cut” .  I added color to the image and around the edges of the details using two Flourishes Copic Collections:

The detail cutting was done using a  detail scissors , and we have them in the store now.

These are actually small medical scissors.  Every craft stamper needs this in the tool box.  I give them my very highest approval rating!

I used two Spellbinders die sets, Floral Ovals and Nested Pennants, and more of the wonderful paper on layers from this set. I then made a small bow from a piece of Satin Finish Cotton Peach Ribbon PFA1300-D84 using my Becca Bow Maker and a pearl stick pin from the set.  I added a strip of the tiny ecru lace from the kit on top of the Peach ribbon.  The tiny pearls are also from the kit as well.  The pretty blue rose was a neat detail piece.  I used a Flower from  Color Me Crazy Petaloo, which I colored with my new Aqua Marker Letraset “Aquamarine”.  They are easy to work with and the price of these make them affordable. A  pearl in the center was the “cherry on the top”.

Now I am sure you will want to visit the Senior Design Team and see what they have created for today.

I hope you have enjoyed my two cards for today. Thanks for stopping in.  Leave a love note as I love hearing your thoughts on my creations.

Hello Blog Friends,

Today is the last day of the sneak peeks at Flourishes April Release, and the timing of this release could not have been more perfect for me.  We are releasing the most darling set called Hey Baby! penned by Marcella Hawley.   If you have been following my blog you know that I have been making a baby book for one of  our home base Flourishes employees.  I had to work under cover on this project as I wanted it to be a surprise.  So here is a view of Hey Baby!,  SS193, our darling set for today.

Doesn’t this just want to make a baby card?  I absolutely adore this set. The next page in the baby book was made using this set.  Here is todays  page but certainly not the last page for the book.  Later on I will share the covers front and back as well as other pages, so stay with me until I have had my fill of this baby making fun.  Our darling Madeline was born this afternoon at 1:37PM, and weighed in at 7 lbs, 9.2 oz. She is 20 inches long and has lots of solid black long curls.  She is just precious.

I called this page Welcome Baby Dear.  The background for this page is a sheet of Graphic 45 from my stash. I then printed Flourishes Classic White Cardstock using my Laser printer which is perfectly compatible with Copics Alcohol markers.  I stamped the onesie image from the stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored with Mementos Angel Pink ink and one marker from the Flourishes Lenten Rose Copic Collection to darken some of the areas of the onesie.

I used Spellbinders Label 18 (S4-310) to cut the white smaller labels, then did a “tight cut” on the outside edge of the label on the light pink.  For the top labels I used two sizes of the the same set.  Down the horizontal center of the page the frugal part of me came out.  I used the strip from the Ironwork Accents (Spellbinders). I lightened the  edges with more Memento Angel Pink ink on a Ranger ink foam.  Then I added May Arts Pink Stain Pleated ribbon, MA 37958-09, and then a string of Kaiser pearls in white PL 501.  For the outside edge of the page I used a strip of the pink cardstock and added a strip white enterudeux (so often used in fine baby clothes), then another string of the Kaiser pearls. and a strip of white French White Venise Laurel Lace (3825).  Three small pink roses from my stash and three larger Kaiser pearls were the finishing touch.

Now I am going to send you on your way to visit the other Flourishes blogging Designers.

O course we have a Mystery Blogger, giving you another chance to win some or all of our April release.

Visit the Flourishes Blog for all the details and challenges.

Thank you visiting today.  Leave me a love note as I love to hear your thoughts, remember I could be the Mystery Blogger.
